  • Welcome to our blog!

    I’m Monique, and I’m Melissa,

Together, we are MoniLissa…photographers who also happen to be best friends :)

We’re not to be confused with Da Vinci’s infamous portrait; we are not as well known nor do we resemble her.

We get REALLY excited about taking pictures, which includes oohing and aawing over things that other people may not find quite as exciting. This includes: fallen trees, brightly colored doors, dilapidated barns, and anything with a reflective surface (mirrors, windows, water…you get the idea)

This blog is our visual diary, a place we can document and display the unscripted moments that we anticipate and then capture.

Have a look around, and should you like what you see …give us a shout!

After a very raining morning that turned into an even rainier afternoon, we were shocked to see the sun peek out as we drove to the Howard County Conservancy for Chris & Ashley’s engagement session. Thankfully, Ashley is a beautifully positive person who held out hope that the rain would clear up. She got even more than that…the most PERFECT September evening and sunset! These two wanted a pretty, rustic setting to complement their wedding venue, and we found just that in an old barn, lots of fields, and still blooming wild flowers.

Josh & Julie had the perfect, romantic wedding on a surprisingly cool July evening at Shade Trees and Evergreens. This is the perfect outdoor venue that Julie embellished with all her unique, bright blue and purple details. These two made sure every element of their day was beautiful, starting with Julie’s fantastic Cinderella dress and ending with a surprise fireworks display for their guests…it doesn’t get any more dreamy than that!

We’re so in love with this outdoor dress shot…

We loved watching the sweet connection between Chris and Heather at their engagement session, and it was even more awesome to see them light up in each other’s presence on their wedding day. They had a quiet ceremony under Turf Valley’s pergola, where they were surrounded by family, friends, and some gorgeous scenery. The entire day flowed beautifully, and everyone enjoyed celebrating their marriage.

We loved Heather’s gorgeous lace gown…

Zach & Teresa have been engaged for two years, and they were sooo ready to tie the knot when their big day finally arrived. We’ve had the pleasure of shooting weddings for both their friends and some family over the past couple years, so we felt right at home all day with their guests. These two are truly blessed with really awesome people in their lives. Everyone was so sweet and happy for the couple, and it didn’t hurt that they also know how to have a good time! We know how excited Teresa was to finally be the bride, and we couldn’t have been happier for them on their wedding day!

We started the day with the girls and all of Teresa’s beautiful details:

Love these dramatic B & W’s…

and can’t get enough of this infectious laugh:)

Teresa did a mini first glance with her dad, which was really sweet…

Zach and his groomsmen…who obviously know how to have a good time:

Teresa, you look fierce!

Some bridal party fun…

Love these group shots, you guys are awesome!

We couldn’t resist using this old shed as a backdrop, and everyone looks great…

We had time for more bride and groom portraits:

This light is fantastic!!

Grandma made an awesome flower girl, love this!Right before walking down the aisle:

This ceremony shot is a personal favorite:)

We took a few minutes to rest under the trees…

    Mary Brown - Awesome photos!

Meet my newest nephew, John Joseph! He is the youngest of three and was born two weeks early. I took a few newborn pictures for my sister when he was just 13 days old, so I was hoping he would sleep for the majority of the session…baby John had other plans! This was okay with me because I was able to capture some very sweet moments with him and his Mama.

How adorable is he?

    Natalie Sitkowski - Amazing photos!

We were super excited to kick off our wedding season with Jeff & Chrissy at the lovely and historic Elkridge Furnace Inn. These two met at a board game meet up, which we thought was both awesome and unique. They incorporated this into the wedding day with board game centerpieces, personalized dice favors, and Jenga pieces for their guests to write special notes on. Their family and friends made it apparent that these two had truly found that special someone. We didn’t need any convincing; we could see that these two have a perfect and special love for one another. It was evident in their emotional outdoor ceremony, their sweet interactions with one another, and their nonstop smiling and giggling.

Chrissy had some really unique details…

including this beautiful handmade ring box!

The Inn has an amazing bridal suite…

Love this candid shot:)

Chrissy, you were a beautiful bride!!

A personal favorite…How handsome is Chrissy’s son?

Some shots of the very handsome groom and his gents:

They had a special patriotic surprise for Chrissy…

A special gift for Jeff:

Love that moment when the groom first sees his bride…

This was a very sweet and emotional ceremony:

We loved the idea of layering sand in a keepsake frame…

Officially Mr. & Mrs. Marshall:)

A rustic building + the perfect couple = perfection!!

How cute are these two?!

The sweetest first dance to “Love of a Lifetime”…

The kids are always the best dancers…

This was a beautiful moment between father and daughter:Sneak away at sunset…

We love when a couple is willing to sit in the grass, totally worth it!!

Melissa’s last shot from the stairwell, stunning!

Jeff & Chrissy, thanks for allowing us to be a part of your special day :) We wish you all the best!!
